When you say Moonstone, you’re probably referring to the succulent Pachyphytum oviferum, commonly known as Moonstone because of its plump, rounded, pastel-colored leaves that look like smooth stones or pebbles.
Here’s a quick overview of Moonstone succulent in a 3-inch pot:
🌿 About Pachyphytum oviferum (Moonstone):
-
Appearance:
-
Plump, chubby leaves in pale bluish, pinkish, or silvery tones (sometimes slightly powdery or frosted).
-
Grows in small, tight rosettes, perfect for small pots.
-
Height: typically 2–4 inches tall; spreads slightly as it matures.
-
🪴 In a 3-inch pot:
-
A 3-inch (about 7–8 cm) pot is ideal for a young Moonstone plant.
-
Pot type: Choose a pot with good drainage — terra cotta is great because it breathes, but plastic or ceramic is fine too if there’s a drainage hole.
-
Soil: Use well-draining cactus/succulent soil. You can add a bit of pumice or perlite for extra drainage.
☀️ Care Tips:
✅ Light: Bright, indirect sunlight indoors; morning sun if outdoors. Too much harsh sun can scorch it, but too little light will make it stretch.
✅ Watering: Only water when the soil is completely dry — overwatering is the main killer.
✅ Temperature: Prefers warm, dry conditions; protect from frost.
✅ Handling: Be gentle — the leaves are delicate and can fall off easily if bumped.
