Aeonium Kiwi
Description
Aeonium Kiwi plants is a three-colored succulent, the most valuable aspect of which is the creamy yellow through the center and a soft green within the center of spoon-shaped leaves with a rose red edge when fully exposed to light. Aeonium kiwi forms tightly structured rosettes on thin, vertical stems which, with time, may branch to produce a bushy plant form, as opposed to a flatter, low-lying style of plant seen in other succulents.
Aeonium Kiwi Needs lots of light (not hot direct light). A few feet away from a south or east facing window, or a covered patio should do the trick. A light rich environment encourages bright colors, and a red rim to be present. In low light the rosette colors become more drab green and the stem will become longer and more spindly. This succulent would be a wonderful addition to a rock garden or combined with other low growing succulents.
A bit different from many succulents, the Aeonium Kiwi enjoys being watered a little more frequently and tends to primarily do its growing in the cool of the season and it'll spend the heat of the summer months dormant and barely needing water. They're a pretty simple to look after and Aeonium Kiwis multiply readily from the base so a single plant will gradually turn into a clump.

Important Notes
- As each is a living plant it can have its own subtle differences in rosette size, colour blend and amount of red along the leaf edge.
- Colour intensity depends on light exposure; plants kept in lower light will look plainer green with less red edging
- Some leaf curling or bruising during transit is normal for this variety and the plant usually recovers within a couple of weeks with proper light and water
- Avoid direct, harsh midday sun right after unboxing; let the plant acclimatise gradually to its new spot
- This plant naturally rests through summer and grows mainly in the cooler months, so slower growth or minor leaf drop in warm weather is normal
- Keep away from waterlogged soil, as overwatering is the most common cause of rot in Aeonium
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. My Aeonium Kiwi is not colorful anymore – it just goes plain green. Why is this?
A. The bright yellow and red colours in this Aeonium variety come from a sufficient amount of very bright light. In a too dim location the rosette is going plain green and the stem might become too stretched. Moving it closer to an east or south facing window will bring back colours within some weeks.
Q: How frequently do you water the plant?
A: Aeonium Kiwi generally requires a bit more water on a consistent basis compared to other succulents during the cooler growing season, water when the top few inches of soil feel dry. Cut watering right down to minimal watering and water just enough to prevent the leaves from shrivelling during the summer season when it is dormant.
Q: Is Aeonium Kiwi an indoor plant?
A: Yes, they do fine inside in an eastern or southern window that provides them with bright, filtered light throughout the day. Placing the Aeonium Kiwi with a sheer curtain that is protected from harsh midday sun works best for some.
Q: How fast does this plant grow?
A: Aeonium Kiwi is a fast-grower during their cooler months, and it is from fall through spring and then growth slows to rest in the heat of summer. When mature, Aeonium kiwi grow stems that branch and may soon become shrubby.
Q: How often do you need to repot it?
A: Generally every two or three years should be sufficient, in early spring or late winter as your plant’s growth cycle begins. Ensure you choose a pot one size larger at most than the existing one.
Q: Are these plant harmful to my pets?
A: The Aeonium Kiwi plant is safe for dogs and cats. We do always recommend, especially for dogs that like to chew anything and everything to keep all plants out of their reach and if you are unsure speak to your vet.
