Description

Coppertone Sedum, ( Sedum nussbaumerianum ), is a low-growing succulent in a compact, rosette shape which is readily available at nurseries everywhere. Young, teardrop shaped leaves emerge pale yellow green and age to a rich coppery orange with additional sunlight, which is one of the primary motivations for taking this unique plant home to a window sill or bright balcony location. It’s an important tonal counterpoint to many of our all-green-foliage home interiors.

Q: Why do my sedums have yellowing lower leaves which keep dropping?

A: Yellowing of just a few lowest leaves happens once a while just cause they're old and your sedum is getting taller. However, if a big number of leaves are yellowing and feel mushy or soft, it's for sure overwatering. Let your soil become totally dry after watering and check for a drainage hole.

Q: How frequently should you water the plant?

A: there is not really set amount of days since there is too many factors to be taken in to account (soil and your conditions, your pot etc.) - generally water it whenever it feel really dry few inches down the surface (which may vary based on your climate, a little bit less for monsoons or winters in India)

Q: Can you grow Sedum nussbaumerianum inside?

A: Yes, as long as you have a bright position, south and west facing windowsills work well. Lack of light will make stems leggy, coppery color will become green so light is quite important for a Sedum to do well indoors.

Q: How much light does it really need? 

A: Bright light for much of the day is preferred. Outside, a few hours of sun are perfectly acceptable, even the extra sun helps bring out richer coppery-orange leaf shades. Only under particularly fierce Indian afternoon sun during high summer does it stand to benefit from partial filtering.

Q: Is this a fast-growing plant? 

A: No. It grows to a medium to slow growing plant; this type is characteristic of Sedum. It wont get really huge, and the plant will mature outward and sometimes downward as it gets bigger, almost like it trails.

Q: Does it need regular fertiliser?

A: You don't need to use very much feed; dilute a general-purpose liquid feed at 1/4 strength and apply every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer when it's actively growing. Never feed during winter, and water the soil well first to prevent scorch.
