Light Requirements
- Indoor: Place in bright, indirect light; a south-facing window is ideal during winter.
- Outdoor: Can thrive in partial shade to full sun, but protect from intense afternoon sun to prevent leaf scorch.
Watering
- Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Kalanchoes are succulents and prefer drier conditions to avoid root rot.
- Water sparingly during the winter months, typically every 2-3 weeks.
Soil
- Use a well-draining potting mix, such as a cactus or succulent blend. This helps prevent excess moisture, which can lead to root rot.
Fertilization
- Fertilize once a month during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength.
Pruning and Maintenance
- Deadhead spent flowers to encourage new growth and maintain the plant's appearance.
- Pinch back stems if necessary to promote bushier growth.
Reblooming
- To encourage reblooming, reduce watering and provide shorter daylight hours (around 8-9 hours of light) for about a month before returning it to brighter conditions.
By following these care tips, you can enjoy healthy Kalanchoe plants with beautiful white blooms throughout their growing season.
